somewhere along the river,
i lost sight of the ark among the flags,
then lost myself, too.
now all i can do
is place paper boats of prayer in the water,
hoping one of them will carry you,
safely to a shore.
you do not see them,
those tiny, paper, boats-
they melt
into the water where i lost you.
but it is enough that i know God will keep them
even before they touch the water-
it is enough

prayer for peace- from “flowers of heaven: one thousand years of Christian verse”

Lord. Make me an instrument of your peace.
Where there is hatred let me sow love.
Where there is injury, pardon;
Where there is doubt, faith;
Where there is despair, hope;
Where there is darkness, light;
Where there is sadness, joy.

Divine Master,
Grant that I may seek not so much to be consoled as to console;
To be understand as to understand;
To be loved as to love;
For it is in giving that we receive;
It is in pardoning that we are pardoned,
And it is in dying that we are born to Eternal Life. Amen.

Himself

Once it was the blessing, Now it is the Lord;
Once it was the feeling, Now it is His Word.
Once His gifts I wanted, Now the Giver own;
Once I sought for healing, Now Himself alone.

Once ’twas painful trying, Now ’tis perfect trust;
Once a half salvation, Now the uttermost.
Once ’twas ceaseless holding, Now He holds me fast;
Once ’twas constant drifting, Now my anchor’s cast.

Once ’twas busy planning, Now ’tis trustful prayer;
Once ’twas anxious caring, Now He has the care.
Once ’twas what I wanted, Now what Jesus says;
Once ’twas constant asking, Now ’tis ceaseless praise.

Once it was my working, His it hence shall be;
Once I tried to use Him, Now He uses me.
Once the power I wanted, Now the Mighty One;
Once for self I labored, Now for Him alone.

Once I hoped for Jesus, Now I know He’s mine;
Once my lamps were dying, Now they brightly shine.
Once for death I waited, Now His coming hail;
And my hopes are anchored, Safe within the veil.

additional question to ponder

Posted by: yeneviva on: January 21, 2009

hope you girls have started doing your Bible study homework :)

An additional question for you to answer:

As you look back over 1:18-2:12, what signs of struggle do you find? What does this indicate about a major theme in this gospel?

That’s all! See you girls soon! Can’t wait for CNY yummy goodies, ang pows, meeting cousins!!

XOXO

what do you say to satisfy your conscience?

Posted by: yeneviva on: January 20, 2009

When your conscience says, “You have sinned. You must be punished for this sin or else God is not a just God,” what do you say?

Hebrews 9:14
14how much more shall the blood of Christ, who through the eternal Spirit offered Himself without spot to God, cleanse your conscience from dead works to serve the living God?

Yes, I have sinned. But this sin and every other sin that I have committed were punished to the MAXIMUM in the body of Jesus Christ! So there remains no more punishment for me today, for how much MORE shall the blood of Christ, who through the eternal Spirit offered Himself without spot to God, cleanse my conscience!

Remember to do your cell hw :) I have additional questions for you all to answer, will post them up soon. :)

CONGRATULATIONS!

Please read the WHOLE OF MATTHEW for hw this week. Just skim through, don’t need to study in depth. We will be discussing the themes, context, etc of Matthew for this week.

no cell this week

Posted by: yeneviva on: January 8, 2009

yay! i have no class on fridays so technically my weekend is here!

Tmr I go to SKS to hunt for our cell material, pray that my trip will be fruitful! I’m really looking forward to more in-depth bible study this year! It’s burning in my heart for everyone in CoG to grow in our understanding of God’s Word! Yep.

School this week was so busy. Endless classes, endless reading, endless CCA things to do. But I’m always reminded not to get lost in the flurry of activities. Sit at Jesus feet and somehow there’s always enough time. *BIG SMILE*
